Package off to Etsy Labs

So I filled one of the big flat-rate priority mail boxes with all kinds of craft supplies and sent it off to Etsy Labs this morning.

It was a lot of beads, some containers for organizing, local wool yarn, embroidery floss, needles, weird thrift store finds -- you name it. Now I'm feeling a little stupid. What if they think the stuff I sent was crap?

Christopher (above) doesn't, but sometimes I worry about what other people think.

Gifts for Boys on the Etsy Showcase

So I went ahead and decided to buy a spot on the Valentine's Day showcase, "Gifts for Boys." It's linked from Etsy's homepage.

When you click on shuffle, all these little hearts come out and start dancing around. There's some good stuff up there.

I have no idea.

Is Southern Sassy Pants an ironist like myself or did she just make a pillow for someone lucky enough to have these radical initials?

Perhaps I should order one just like this to match my Urban Guerrilla stickers...

Showcase Showdown

I have another spot on the Etsy showcase today. There's a really nice mix of stuff up there. It's always different. Sometimes it looks like a well-chosen treasury list.

Check it out. Shuffle the items, toss them around. It can be a lot of fun.

Farewell to farewells...

I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I thought it would be really nice to say goodbye to all the little Etsy guys when they went to their new homes. Do I really have this kind of time? No.

So, farewell to Keaton the ladybug, Little Frog (who underwent sexual reassignment surgery and is now a lady, no longer Frederick), and Gretchen the bunny.

And last, but not least, a fond farewell to farewells.

Feature on The Creation Station

Today I am the featured artist on The Creation Station. It's a cool blog that just got started but already has a ton of hits. PowderPuff, the Etsy seller who writes the blog was the first person to buy anything from my shop and I feel privileged that she is acknowledging my work.

Doing this interview was fun because I got to answer questions about some things I actually care about -- like ice cream and Elvis. I give the grisly details of a 4th grade project gone awry while trying to be sassy and clever. Scroll down, she also mentions my slogan contest.

So for the past couple of months, the little tag line underneath my logo banner on the Etsy shop has been, "Wearable art for you and your little ones."

Now, I consider myself to be a little hip. I'm told I'm smart, sassy, fun even. Wearable art reminds me of a crocheted caftan with feathers and fringe (I don't think I'm quite sure what a caftan is...). Wearable art: tie dye and macaroni necklaces. Not hip; Not retro prints and good craftsmanship. My plan has always been to have a variety of cool items in the shop from stickers and plushies to onesies and prints. These little guys are just the beginning.

Anyway.

I need a new slogan. Etsy calls it a "Shop Title." My favorite belongs to TinyMeat: "Sorry, no pie here," it reads. I know I can't get much better than that, but with your help, we can try.

The deal with the contest is this: You'll get something for free from my Etsy shop. You can choose. You can custom order (within reason). You can design your own little guy or devise an ensemble.

I'll post a new blog when the contest is over and email everyone through the list on this page when I've stopped taking entries.
