Vegan Twinkies.

I read the VeganLunchBox blog every few days to see what fabulous new creation Jennifer has whipped up for her son, Shmoo. Ahh, what a dream -- if only I could be a SAHM and spend half the day figuring out what to eat...

Anyway, that's not my life. I'm not even a mom. But Aaron and I did get a Bed, Bath & Beyond gift certificate for Christmas and after reading about vegan Twinkies, I ran out and picked up the Twinkie-making kit. We couldn't find the Malt Barley Powder anywhere in town so Aaron fudged the icing recipe. I'm actually at a loss for words to describe how amazing and delicious these tiny little filled cakes are (soon, were). There are only a couple left.

I highly recommend Jennifer's book, Vegan Lunch Box. It's really well organized (by the time it takes to make each lunch) and includes some great recipes that can be used for any meal. It has a great design and clear photos.

Treasury on the Etsy Homepage!

So I totally slept through the WHOLE thing but it's still pretty cool. I created a treasury list the other day and called it something stupid like "Kick it up a Notch" because I couldn't think of anything really good and that's what came into my head.

So anyway, I put all sorts of good stuff in it from using applique as a search term and from items of peeps in my flickr group, Appliquecore.

Last night, just after I went to bed, it was chosen to go up on the homepage. That's two out of three lists I've made that have been picked. Yay!

See another pic here (thanks supastarr!).

Etsy love!

Two of my most favorite shops on Etsy are Mamadelic and Tinymeat (perhaps you remember my earlier post about how "Sorry, no pie here" was the inspiration for my own slogan contest). I have just learned that they met on Etsy and now are trying to sell lots of stuff so that they'll have enough money to be together.

Read about their story on Mona's blog. I'm a little teary eyed. Give me a second.

I can't buy anything until the next payday but perhaps you can.
Mamadelic is giving away free Tinymeat card cases with any purchase over 10$!

This checkbook cover was on my Christmas list:
You can buy cool passport cases here too.

And I really need this necklace:
Don't buy this one. Buy something else, like this.

It's true love, just like on The Princess Bride.

One more to go!

When I first started selling on Etsy, I never expected it to take off. Secretly I hoped... Silently I fantasized about millions of fans... Subtley I hinted to Katie Holmes...

But now I have 199 hearts. Wow.

Package off to Etsy Labs

So I filled one of the big flat-rate priority mail boxes with all kinds of craft supplies and sent it off to Etsy Labs this morning.

It was a lot of beads, some containers for organizing, local wool yarn, embroidery floss, needles, weird thrift store finds -- you name it. Now I'm feeling a little stupid. What if they think the stuff I sent was crap?

Christopher (above) doesn't, but sometimes I worry about what other people think.

Gifts for Boys on the Etsy Showcase

So I went ahead and decided to buy a spot on the Valentine's Day showcase, "Gifts for Boys." It's linked from Etsy's homepage.

When you click on shuffle, all these little hearts come out and start dancing around. There's some good stuff up there.

A pillow for Patty...

Is this pillow in honor of Patty Hearst?

I have no idea.

Is Southern Sassy Pants an ironist like myself or did she just make a pillow for someone lucky enough to have these radical initials?

Perhaps I should order one just like this to match my Urban Guerrilla stickers...
